MODERN ORIGAMI TULIP
This is an explanation for making a modern looking origami tulip. I've made a tiny one here,
but if you like it's no problem to make it larger dan I did.
Step 1:
This paper is for the flower.
The size is 6x6 inch or 15x15 centimeters.
Turn the paper.
Step 2:
Make mountain- and valley-folds over these 4 lines.
Unfold each fold after you've made one.
Step 3:
First, make a valley-fold over the 2 lines below, on the right.
Then, make a mountain-fold over the 2 lines in the middle.
And make a valley-fold over the 2 lines on top, on the left.
Now you get a basic-shape.
Step 4:
Fold the piece below the green line upwards by making a
valley-fold over this green line.
Do the same on the backside of the model.
Step 5:
Fold the piece on the right of the green line to the left
by making a valley-fold over this green line (=bookfold)
Do the same on the backside of the model.
Step 6:
Fold the piece below the green line upwards by making
a valley-fold over this green line.
Do the same on the backside of the model.
Step 7:
Make an inside reverse fold on the end on the right in this
picture. Do this by making a mountain-fold over the line on the
left an a valley-fold at the same place on the backside of the
end. Also, make a valley-fold over the line on the right, this
line is on the edge of the end.
You actually just push the piece indicated by the arrow to the
inside of the model by making these folds.
Step 8:
Repeat step 7 on the other 3 ends of the model.
Step 9:
Make a mountain-fold over this line.
Make the same fold on the other 3 same pieces of the model.
Step 10:
Pull the 4 ends indicated by the arrows to the outwards.
Then push these 4 pieces you've pulled outwards flat from
the inside of the model.
Step 11:
The flower is ready...
Step 12:
Make about 10 of these leaves
Click here to see instructions for folding these leaves
I used papers of 3x3 inch or 8x8 centimeters for making
these leaves.
Step 13:
Make one stem of about 6 inch or 15 centimeters long.
Click here to see diagrams for making this stem
If your stem is to thick, you can just fold it in half over the
length one more time.
Step 14:
Add glue to the top of the stem and glue it to the inside of
the bottom of the tulip, see arrow on the left.
Step 15:
The flower with stem is ready...
Step 16:
I used a tiny pot for this arrangement, the height is only 3 inch
or 7 centimeters. I filled the pot with foam, then I've placed
the flower with stem in it. I've placed the leaves around the
bottom of the stem. A few leaves are just laying on the other
leaves.
Step 17:
Here you can see that the leaves are placed around the stem
in the foam.
Step 18:
Finally, I placed origami sand on top of the foam.

The modern origami tulip is ready!
(Stays fresh at least 1 or 2 years in the average living-room)
