PAPER
PARROT CAGE - DIY
This is a detailed tutorial for making a life size Parrot Cage out of
paper and cardboard.

Step 1:
I
used standard white copy/printer papers for the sticks of the cage.
Prefold and cut a paper in half.

Step 6:
Use a
large round object or compass to draw and cut a circle out of
cardboard.
Step 5:
So,
12 round sticks and 2 flat sticks are enough for making the Parrot
Cage.
Step 2:
Glue
or tape both parts together.
Step 4:
The
two horizontal sticks are made of 3,5 paper pieces taped/glued
together (see step 1)
They're folded in half a few times, instead of rolled up.

Step 3:
Fold
the edge a few times, then roll up into a stick. Use glue or tape.
Make 12 of these sticks.

Step 10:
Glue
or tape the edge to the cardboard base.

Step 8:
Glue
a piece of colored paper to the round cardboard base. Cut off along
the edge of the cardboard.
Step 9:
Wrap
/ fold colored paper around the cardboard edge.
Step 7:
Make
a long cardboard edge for the bottom of the cage.

Step 16:
Glue
a flat horizontal stick around the upper part of the cage.
Step 15:
Tie a
knot around the top of the cage, I used a piece of wrapping ribbon.
Step 12:
Tape
or glue the top of two round sticks together. Repeat with all 12
sticks, so you get 6 long sticks in total.
Step 11:
Valley-fold
a round stick on the place indicated by the short line This is where
the roof of the cage starts, see orange arrow. Make this fold on all
12 round sticks.
Step 14:
Use
the first pair as guidance to glue the other 4 sticks to the base.

Step 13:
Glue
the sticks to the base. The first pair is glued into a straight
angle.

Step 19:
Fold
the circle in half two times and unfold afterwards.
Step 20:
Cut
along one of the four prefolded lines (cut to the center). Then glue
or tape 2 quarters together. Leave an opening in the center of the
cone.
Step 18:
Use a
round object or compass to draw and cut a small circle out of a
colored paper.
Step 17:
Glue
the second horizontal stick around the middle of the cage.

And
this is a paper parrot cage which is used for real Origami parrots.
Slide
the ribbon through the cone ... DONE!
