ORIGAMI ANTHURIUM
These are instructions for making an origami anthurium. I made a tiny arrangement here,
but it can be made much bigger too, if you like.
Step 1:
This paper is for a flower, both sides are coloured.
The size is 3,5x3,5 inch or 8,5x8,5 centimeters.
Turn the paper.
Step 2:
Make a valley-fold over this line. Unfold it after
you've made it.
Step 3:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.
Step 4:
Fold the 2 corners on the left of the yellow lines to the right
by making a valley-fold over these 2 yellow lines.
Step 5:
Make a valley-fold over this line. Make this fold over
all layers of the model.
Unfold this fold after you've made it.
Step 6:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.
The edge on the right of these 2 lines stands upwards
after you've made these folds, see the picture of step 7.
Step 7:
Repeat step 6 over these 2 lines.
Step 8:
Now the model looks like this.
Turn the model.
Step 9:
Make a valley-fold over the 3 lines on the right and
a mountain-fold over the line on the left (at the arrow).
Push the piece at the arrow to the right while you
are making these folds.
Step 10:
Here a part of the folds from step 9 is already done.
Push the piece at the arrow a little further to the right
and finish the valley-fold over the yellow line.
Step 11:
Now the model looks like this.
Step 12:
Hold the model in one hand, the same as I do in this picture,
with the flower-part on the table.
Push the model flat from above (see arrows) with your other
hand.
Step 13:
Now you have some flower veins on your model, because
of the pushing and flattening in step 12.
Make a mountain-fold over the 2 yellow lines and fold the
top of the stamen (see arrow) downwards.
Step 14:
One flower is done...
Make 3 of these flowers for one complete arrangement.
Step 15:
Make 3 stems of about 6 inch or 15 centimeters in length.
Click here to see instructions for making a stem
If your stem is to thick, just fold it in half over the length
one more time.
Step 16:
Make about 6 of these leaves.
Click here to see diagrams for making these leaves.
I used papers of 3,5x3,5 inch or 8,5x8,5 centimeters to
make these leaves.
Make stems of different length for each leaf.
Step 17:
The top of this stem is folded downwards, see arrow on the
right.
Add a little glue to this piece (at the arrow on the right)
and glue it to the backside of the flower on the place
indicated by the arrow on the left.
Step 18:
I've bended the stem on several places to make it look
more natural.
Make 3 of these stems with one flower attached to it.
Step 19:
This picture shows how the flowers and leaves are arranged.
The pot is 3 inch or 7 centimeters in height and I've filled
it with foam. The stems of the flowers and leaves are
pressed in the foam.

Step 20:
Finally I've placed origami sand on top of the foam.
Click here for instructions to make the origami sand.
The origami anthurium is ready!
