ORIGAMI CHRISTMAS CACTUS
I think the leaves I designed for this christmas cactus are pretty cool.
Step 1:
This paper is for the flowers, the
backside
is completely white.
Prefold over these 4 lines.
Step 2:
Make a valley-fold over these 4 lines.
Step 3:
Turn the model.
Step 4:
Make these folds from the edge of the
model
to the center, not any further.
First, make 2 valley-folds below, on the
right. Then, make
2 mountain-folds in the middle. And make
2 valley-folds
on the top left.
Step 5:
Pull the piece indicated by the arrow
upwards by
making a valley-fold over the green line.
Step 6:
Press the 2 layers indicated by the
smaller arrows
against each other. Then press the loose
piece flat
from above with your other hand, see
large arrow.
Step 7:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.
Step 8:
Unfold the folds from step 7
Step 9:
Pull the edge indicated by the arrow
upwards by making
a valley-fold over the green line.
Step 10:
Press the edges indicated by the arrows
flat from above.
Step 11:
Fold the triangular piece above the
green line downwards
by making a valley-fold over this green
line.
Step 12:
Repeat steps 6 to 11 on the other 3
pieces indicated
by the arrows.
Step 13:
Pull the petals at the bottom
of the 2 arrows outwards,
in the direction of these arrows.
Step 14:
Fold the triangular piece
above the green line to the inside
of the model by making a mountain-fold
over this green line.
Step 15:
Push the 2 petals indicated by
the arrows towards each
other again, in the direction of these
arrows.
Step 16:
Repeat step 13 to 15 on the
other 3 same triangular pieces
of the model.
Step 17:
Push the 2 pieces indicated by the
arrows towards each
other by making a valley-fold over the
green line.
Step 18:
Pull the upper layer of paper loose from
the rest of the
model at the places indicated by the
arrows.
Step 19:
Make a valley-fold over these lines,
everything is already prefolded.

Step 20:
Now you've made an extra petal.
Repeat steps 17 to 19 on the other 3
same places
of the model.

Step 21:
Fold the piece on the right of the green
line to the left
by making a valley-fold over this green
line (=bookfold)
Step 22:
Fold the petal below the green line
upwards by making
a valley-fold over this green line.
Step 23:
Repeat step 22 on the other 3 same
petals of the model.
(These 4 petals are made of more paper
layers then the
other 4 petals)
Step 24:
Fold the piece on the right of the green
line to the left
by making a valley-fold over this green
line (=bookfold)
Step 25:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.
Step 26:
Repeat step 25 on the other 3 same
places of the model.
Step 27:
Fold the piece on the right of the green
line to the left
by making a valley-fold over this green
line.
Step 28:
Pull the petal indicated by the arrow
outwards and
curl it by just rolling it up.
Step 29:
The arrow shows the petal of step 28.
Repeat step 28 on the other 3 same
petals.

Step 30:
Pull these 4 petals out of the model too
and curl them
by rolling them up outwards.
Step 31:
The cactus flower is done...

Step 32:
This paper is for one piece with 4
leaves.
Prefold over these lines, then turn the
paper.

Step 33:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.

Step 34:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.

Step 35:
Make a valley-fold over these 2 lines.

Step 36:
First, (pre)fold the model in half over
the line in the middle.
Then, prefold over the 2 outer lines.
The ends at
the smaller
arrows go to the line indicated by the
large arrow when
you are
prefolding these 2 lines.
Step 37:
Now you've made 3 helplines for step 37
and 38
Make an inside reverse fold over these 3
lines.
Do this by making a mountain-fold over
the short line
in the middle and a valley-fold over the
2 longer
lines.
The line in
the middle is on the same place as the folding
line on the right in the picture of step
36
Make the same folds as above on the
place indicated by
the arrow.
Step 38:
Repeat step 37 two times over these
lines.

Step 39:
Insert a metal wire in the model, you
can use a
little
tape on the inside of the model to keep
the wire on
place.

Step 40:
Glue a flower to the end of the model.

Step 41:
Make enough of these pieces to get a
nice
arrangement.
Finally, place these pieces in a pot
filled with
foam.

Done!
