ORIGAMI DAHLIA
No extreme difficult folds have to be made to create this complex
looking dahlia flower.
Step 1:
Both sides of this paper are purple.
Prefold over these 4 lines.
Step 2:
Make a valley-fold over these 4 lines.
Step 3:
Make a valley-fold over these 4 lines.
Step 4:
Prefold over these 4 lines.
Step 5:
Start with making a valley-fold over the
2 lines indicated
by the arrows. Then, make a
mountain-fold over the 2
lines
next to the first ones. Continue making
valley- and
mountain-folds until the 2 lines on the
top-left.
Step 6:
Prefold over these 4 lines.
Step 7:
Unfold the model until it has the same
shape as in
step 5 again.
Step 8:
Fold the piece in the center downwards
by making
mountain-folds over these lines.
These lines are prefolded in step 6 (the
yellow line below
in the picture of step 6)
Step 9:
Fold the piece in the center upwards now
by making
valley-folds over these prefolded lines.
Step 10:
Fold the piece in the center downwards
again by making
mountain-folds over these prefolded
lines.
Step 11:
And fold the center piece upwards one
more time by
making valley-folds over these prefolded
lines
(The upper line in the picture of step 6)
Step 12:
Now the model looks like this.
Step 13:
Fold the petal upwards by
making an inside reverse fold
over these 3 lines.
Step 14:
Fold the same petal downwards
by making an inside reverse
fold over these 3 lines.
Step 15:
And fold the petal upwards
again by making an inside
reverse fold over these 3 lines.
Step 16:
Repeat steps 13 to 15 on the
other 7 petals.
Step 17:
Now the model looks like this from above.
Step 18:
Fold the corner indicated by the arrow
downwards by
making an inside reverse fold over the 3
yellow lines.
Make a mountain-fold over the short line
in the middle
and a valley-fold over the 2 longer
outer lines.
Step 19:
Repeat step 18 on the corners indicated
by the 7 arrows.

Step 20:
And repeat step 18 on the corners
indicated by these
8 arrows.
